A Portion of Tower Ave to Undergo Reconstruction in Superior
SUPERIOR, Wis. — The City of Superior has announced plans to reconstruct a portion of Tower Ave ahead of plans to close and rebuild the Blatnik Bridge.
Tower Ave south of Belknap St to North 28th St will undergo construction this summer.
Superior Mayor Jim Paine says the estimated $2 million project will improve the driving surface and replace head-on turn lanes with planted medians.
The plan would maintain the current two lanes of travel, while also improving the safety of drivers and pedestrians.
“We are still taking suggestions, we are starting to finalize design now,” Superior Mayor Jim Paine said. “But this is designed to be a street that works for the people who live here first and foremost, are doing business here, for citizens of Superior who use this as their business district to get where they’re going and then as pass through for Superior. We want to focus on our community, particularly the people that are right here.”
During construction this summer one lane of traffic in each direction will be open at all times.
