Northern Star: Cherry Boys Basketball
Cherry will face BOLD on Thursday at 11 AM at the Target Center.
DULUTH, Minn.- For the fourth straight year, the Cherry boys basketball team has made it to the big dance.
As a repeat attendee, the Tigers know there’s not much time to celebrate beforehand.
“Obviously the goal is to take care of business one step at a time. Win the section and this team has big goals. We’ve been at the top of the mountain last year and we want to get back there again. So kind of a buisness trip mindset and get down there again and take care of business in the cities,” said head coach Jordan Christianson.
And those that have been there before know it starts with the little things.
“We know the work that we need to do in practice and the preparation for everything. So we’re going to have a good two practices, go down on wednesday and get it done,” added senior guard Noah Sundquist.
Strengths on the court and off the court.
“Even last year it was a family. But each and every year we grow closer and closer as one. I just love that about that. It’s our second home basically,” said Sundquist.
As all things are gelling, it’s still no easy task to be a repeat champion.
“To get to this point, you have to everything right. You have to put the time in in the summer, you have to put in time at practice, you can’t have off days. You have to do everything right and it’s really really hard to do everything right four months out of the year and these guys have done it. So they know the work that goes into it, they know the preparation that goes into it,” added Christianson.
