Demolition Completed for Essentia’s Legacy St. Mary’s Medical Center

DULUTH, Minn. — Demolition progress on the Essentia Health’s St. Mary’s Legacy Medical Center is now complete.

Construction crews started back taking down the former hospital last August.

According to Essentia, office supplies, furniture, lab supplies, and other items from inside the now destroyed hospital were donated to various businesses in our area and to rural healthcare clinics in Ghana.

The lot will be a temporary green space, but Essentia has presented the location as an for option for the University of Minnesota medical school’s Duluth campus.
