U.M.D. Psychology Department Brings Mobile Neuroscience Lab to Cloquet Middle School

CLOQUET, Minn. — Students at Cloquet Middle School got a chance today to do some hands on learning about their brains.

Undergraduate students from U.M.D.’s psychology department brought their mobile neuroscience lab to the middle school, and spent time teaching the seventh graders all about the brain.

For one of those U.M.D. students, it was a great chance to see the middle schoolers take an interest in what they’re learning.

“It’s really cool seeing that like, spark of interest,” said U.M.D. undergraduate student Bella Thomas. “I think that’s probably my favorite part of coming to these things. This is my second year doing this, and seeing that spark of interest in the questions, and the questions create more questions. There’s even questions that, you know, I can’t even answer, that I have to direct to my professor, because they do catch on, and it’s really fun to see that”

The U.M.D. students hope that this experience can inspire the middle schoolers, and introduce them to a potential field of study that they may not have thought about before.
