City of Superior Seeking Funding to Reinstate Cancelled Bus Route
SUPERIOR, Wis. — In Superior, local officials are seeking aid from the state to help restore canceled bus routes.
Two years ago, the Duluth Transit Authority enhanced bus routes across the Twin Ports because of increasing ridership needs. But part of that re-organizing mean eliminating some routes in Superior, including bus services in Billings Park and South Superior.
So now, the city is seeking funding from the Wisconsin Department of Transportation to reintroduce a route that would run from Super One in East Superior to Billings Park.
“I met with the DTA and told them my concerns. The City of Superior would need, to have bus services reinstated to Billings Park, would be $400,000. And that would cover four round trips in the morning and four round trips in the afternoon,” Superior City Councilor Mike Herrick said.
City officials are waiting to hear back from the state.
