Northern Bedrock Continues Work On New Headquarters in Morgan Park
DULUTH, Minn. — Northern Bedrock Preservation Corps has a new headquarters in the Morgan Park area.
The group purchased an old U.S. Steel building in Morgan Park in September of 2024, and has since been working to transform it into a space that will fit their needs.
Their goal is to create a space that can be used for several purposes, such as training programs. It also includes things like a tool library, a community workshop space, and housing for people in workforce development programs.
The group says they’re looking to welcome anyone, regardless of prior experience with tools.
“We welcome anyone,” said Charley Langowski, executive director at Northern Bedrock. “Our baseline understanding is that you’re brand new to the trades. You maybe have swung a hammer, but no one ever taught you how to do it. And then people with some skills, and then people that have worked in stained glass shops, or their own carpentry studios, or ran their own businesses. It’s a wide gamut of folks we reach.”
Their goal is to have the first floor, which includes the workshop, open within the next 12 months.
In order to open the second floor housing to public program, they still need funding for an elevator.
