Annual Spring Feast Blossoms at UMD

DULUTH, Minn.– U.M.D. welcomed in the recent season switch by hosting its annual Spring Feast.

The American Indian Learning center at U.M.D. is honing in on connection and community for this event.

People attending got to enjoy a lunch, and listen in on a prayer, drum song, and keynote speakers.

The spring feast is a chance to reflect on growth, new beginnings, and community building.

Having the event open to everyone is incredibly important for one of the organizers.

“Some people have never seen a drum, or heard a song before, seeing the pipe ceremony. And those things have been happening here for thousands of years. So, to be able to carry that and share that with the people who have never seen it before, it’s an opportunity for us to really feel proud of ourselves and sharing our culture with people,” said Jeremy Wilson, assistant director for the American Indian Learning Center and Odawa Tribe Member.

On Saturday March 29th, U.M.D. will be holding a Powwow at the Ward Wells Field House.

The event will take place from 11 AM to 9 PM, and it’s free and open for anyone to attend.
