Iron Workers 512 Holding Informational Banner in Response to Kaski INC.

DULUTH, Minn. — Iron Workers Local 512 in Duluth has been holding an informational banner outside of a Kaski INC. project on Martin Road.

Since last Friday, a large group of iron workers has been outside the construction site, displaying banners asking for better pay and working conditions.

Kaski INC has it’s own separate union from Local 512, which is not affiliated with the iron workers.

One representative for Iron Workers Local 512 says that Kaski Inc. glazes over training, and apprenticeships. Right now, the workers are asking the company for better pay, working conditions, and benefits.

“Well, we would like just to inform these individuals that they could be doing better, because you know there’s a lot of training and stuff we get to do these jobs,” said Jeremy Lambert, a representative from Iron Workers Local 512. “And when they come and do them differently without the same kind of standards, it does bring down wages and standards and benefits for everybody in the area.”

We have reached out to Kaski INC. in response to the informational banner holding. The president of Kaski responded to FOX 21 in a statement which can be read below.
