14 Arrested in Sex Offender Compliance Operation

DULUTH, Minn. — 14 sex offenders were arrested after multiple agencies conducted a compliance operation in Duluth.

The U.S. Marshal’s Sex Offender Investigation Branch partnered with the Duluth Police Department, and the St. Louis County Sheriff’s Office to complete the operation between February 3 and March 21.

According to a press release from the Duluth Police Department, there are 338 predatory offenders in Duluth.

During the operations, 104 predatory offenders were contacted and 47 were found to be non-compliant.

Authorities arrested 14 offenders. This included the seizure of a ghost AR-15, on March 2, that belonged to a violent offender who had a prior history of violence towards law enforcement.

According to the Minnesota BCA, certain people who are convicted of predatory crimes must provide information to law enforcement and sometimes the public where they work, live, or attend school.
