Cody Buus Invitational Courage Ride Raises Over $300,000 for Local Families

DULUTH, Minn. — The Cody Buus Invitational Courage Ride held a check presentation on Thursday, awarding over $300,000 for local families.

This year was the first year of the Cody Buus Invitational Courage Ride. The snowmobile ride took over three days in February and gathered 70 riders, 15 volunteers, and 34 sponsors.

On Thursday, the group presented three checks totaling at $307,399. Majority of the money will go to the Northern Lights Foundation. Two other checks were given out to the Nord family and the Schmidt family.

The group’s goal is to financially support families in the Northland who have children who are facing life-threatening illnesses.

The ride was in honor of Cody Buus, an outdoorsman who died in 2022 at the age of 34 from a rare cancer.

The next Cody Buus Invitational Courage Ride is already planned to span February 19-21, 2026.
