Spirit Mountain to Wrap Up Season on Saturday
DULUTH, Minn. — Saturday, March 29, is the last chance to hit the slopes at Spirit Mountain as the hill wraps up its winter season.
Officials at the hill say the 50th anniversary season was success. With the help of cold temps at the start of the season, Spirit was able to get a jump start on snowmaking.
The hill also saw good natural snow this year, which allows for all terrain to be open for the last day.
“It was a great season, I mean it was really good to have a winter return, to start the season with the cold temperatures, making snow was perfect,” John Regenold, Direct of Resort Services said. “Our crews did a great job laying down the base for the runs for the November, December time that we get that about three feet of base on every run so that we can make it to this point of March.”
As the winter fun wraps up, Spirit looks towards summer with the adventure park and mountain biking trails opening around Memorial Day, plus upgrades to ski lifts.
“We are doing lift work, we are adding a brand new lift here at Spirit this upcoming season, so the summer will be busy for taking down some lifts and replacing with brand new ones, so it will be really amazing to have that infrastructure updated,” Regenold said.
Although the slopes are closing Saturday, Spirit Mountain will be hosting Snocross at the hill next weekend. If you’re looking ahead to next winter, season tickets for 25-26 season are on sale.
