UMD Loses Bettens & Sandy to Transfer Portal, Former Bulldog Spicer Also in Portal
Bettens & Sandy are the first two Bulldogs to enter the portal.
DULUTH, Minn.- On Sunday, the transfer portal for men’s hockey officially opened up.
UMD lucked out and saw no current players enter. But on Monday, it was a different story.
Junior forward Kyle Bettens and goaltender Zach Sandy both entered the portal.
Bettens posted 12 goals and 20 assists in 101 games at UMD.
As for Sandy, he’s been the 3rd string goaltender for the Bulldogs the past three years. He saw four games of action this past season, which was the most in his career.
Former Bulldog forward Cole Spicer also entered the portal over the weekend. He played for the Dubuque Fighting Saints in the USHL.
