Bemidji Man Sentenced to Over 21 in Prison for Child Sex Abuse Charges

BEMIDJI, Minn. — On Tuesday, a Bemidji man was sentenced to over 21 years in prison after advertising and distributing child sexual abuse images on the dark web.

According to court documents and evidence presented in trail, Craig James Myran, age 47 of Bemidji, used an account on the dark web to distribute over one-thousand images of child sexual abuse material.

In specific posts, the Myran was found requesting specific material from other users and even advertised over 100 images of prepubescent minors.

The FBI special agents executed a search warrant on Myran’s house on Dec. 8, 2022, where they found multiple hard drives and a cell phone.

Myran was also to have accounts on other dark web sites and was reported to have previously produced his own child sexual abuse material by screen-recorded webcam interactions with minors.

On Nov. 20, 2024, a federal jury convicted Myran for advertising, distributing, and possessing material depicting minors engaged in sexually explicit conduct.

Myran was sentenced to 262 months in prison and followed by 10 years of supervised release.
