Pop-Up Sauna Village Looks to Introduce Hot-Cold Therapy to the Northland

DULUTH, Minn. — The recent snowfall may have kept many inside, but two groups are hoping to bring the heat to Canal Park.

Cold Water Dolphins and SauNice are opening a pop-up sauna village between Canal Park Lodge and Canal Park Brewery for the Arrowhead Home and Builders Show.

The two groups will help people relax by introducing them to hot and cold therapy.  Hot and cold therapy has been found beneficial for people experiencing chronic pain.

The two groups are offering both a sweaty sauna experience and a cold plunge into Lake Superior. They will also have a limited supply of swimming trunks incase anyone hasn’t prepared yet for the summer.

“If you go outside just for a short period of time and then hope in here, it’s like a different world. This is where you want to be on a bad day like that,” said Nick Campbell, the owner of SauNice. “Some people like to finish on the cold because it lets their body reactivate naturally. And then you get into the benefits of cold, adaptation, higher energy, better sleep. You know, I can sit here and talk about this all day, but really, you got to experience it for yourself.”

Mayo Clinic suggests by rotating between the a cold plunge and a heated space can help reduce inflammation and loosening tense muscles.

The sauna village will be open each day until Sunday, from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.
