Model Railroad Returns to St. Louis County Depot

DULUTH, Minn. — All aboard!!! Minnesota’s largest model train set returned to the St. Louis County Depot this weekend.

While the Depot is home to many large trains, this time they were scaled down.

A dozen members of the Minnesota Free-Mo Modelers came together to create the miniature model.

Small trains whistled through the varying landscapes of the model, from the country side, to city skylines.

The team built and assembled around 30 modules by hand to create the model.

Many of the modelers look forward to the Duluth event each year.

“To be able to do an event like this is great for us, the museum is wonderful as a host and this is a really popular event for our group, many of these guys come up from the cities, and they look forward to this weekend why they can do this show in Duluth,” Run Chief Bob Sterner said.

The Minnesota Free-Mo Modelers construct and display model railroads across Minnesota, they hope to get more people into the hobby through their models.
