Duluth East Baseball Searching for Identity in 2025 Season

The Greyhounds are tasked with replacing their one through six hitters, their top five pitchers and lastly, their catcher.

DULUTH, Minn.- A number of local baseball teams are still hoping to play their first games of the season later this week.

As for Duluth East though, they already have two games under their belt.

The Greyhounds opened the year by dropping two games to some tough Rochester squads.

Head coach Chris Siljendahl says this year’s squad is faced with replacing their one through six hitters, their top five pitchers and lastly, their catcher.

So in the early part of the season, he says they’re searching to find their identity.

“It’s a little bit of everything. It’s going to be more of a utility. Like I said with graduating that many of our top players. We only have a couple of guys returning that have varsity experience. So kind of finding the right fit is going to be the goal this year,” said Siljendahl.

Jay Nick and Logan Christiansen are a few of those players that have seen time in the past. They both expressed confidence in turning things around.

“I think chemistry is a big part of it. A lot of these guys are coming up to varsity and getting their first chances. Some of us seniors, we haven’t been around them too much. So have to develop a little bit of chemistry and play together as a team,” added Nick.

“We just want to sort of learn how everyone treats the game. We have to step it up in our behavior and attitude towards the game,” said Christiansen.

Duluth East will next play at Sartell on Tuesday. First pitch is at 4:30 PM.
