Superior Public Library Recognizes ‘National Library Week’
SUPERIOR, Wis. — The Superior Public Library has branded itself as a welcoming communal space for hundreds of years and for National Library Week, the centuries long commitment has a spotlight.
The gathering today featured numerous speakers recognizing the impact the library has brought since 1888.
With the world of digital media, the Superior Public Library is still standing as an inclusive space for everyone.
The speakers reminisced on memories growing up with the library, and how it still has aged well in the community.
Throughout this week, the library is also highlighting its Superior Library Foundation, 1888 Founders Circle, which keeps the system going.
“Money is always tight. With the uncertainty of the current climate with the library system at the federal level, we want to make sure that we can help the library to sustain its current services, as well as expanding services going into the future,” said Jim Purvis, the president of the Superior Library Foundation Board. “So we’re about halfway to our goal of 400,000 dollars at current.”
If they reach the goal of $400,000 they would be able to give $20,000 a year. This would secure the services the Superior Public Library provides that the community knows and loves.
