Miner’s Inc. Presented $23,000 Check to Habitat for Humanity

DULUTH, Minn. — The Western Lake Superior Habitat for Humanity (WLSHFH) getting a big check, on Wednesday, thanks to customers at SuperOne Foods.

During the month of March, over 34,000 people from SuperOne stores in Duluth and the surrounding area donated at the register.

Now, over $23,000 will go towards the non-profit’s mission to build and finance new homes for families in-need of housing.

WLSHFH is looking at the Morgan Park and Smithville neighborhood for their next run of affordable housing needs.

“It’s critical given that there’s things a little bit uncertain with where funding might come from,” said Darren Scmidt, the executive director of WLSHFH. “But I’ve been a big fan of the community support. The community and Miner’s (Inc.) is great for actually wanting to support the communities they serve.”

“It means a lot to us to keep our register campaigns local,” said Susie Marshall, the digital marketing manager for Miner’s Inc. “We know that times are hard for a lot of people, and customers continue to show us their generosity, and we’re so thankful for that. When we’re choosing nonprofits, we want to make sure that we’re picking ones that are doing excellent work, which can be very difficult because there are so many in our area that do incredible work.”

Groundbreaking for WLSHFH next run of affordable housing is expected to happen later this year.
