Terese Tomanek Announces Reelection Plans for Duluth City Council at Large Seat

DULUTH, Minn. — Wednesday, Duluth City Councilor at Large, Terese Tomanek, is seeking reelection this fall.

The announcement coming at a press conference today at Duluth City Hall.

There, Tomanek reflected on her efforts leading up to her current position.

More specifically, her work involving the COVID-19 pandemic, as following her recognition for a Public Health Achievement Award.

Tomanek also spoke on her involvement with the Public Utilities Commission — to secure funding for lead replacement in Duluth’s older buildings and homes.

When it comes to re-election, she has three goals in mind.

“Vibrant neighborhoods, talking about streets and walk-ability and great schools, we’ve had school board members here,” said Tomanek. “The second is the budget. As we all know, we are all concerned what’s happening nationally but also in our city. And we will be working very hard, very hard with administration to keep that budget as tight as it can be, as we’re cognizant of keeping people in their homes.”

Currently, there are two city council at-large seat up for grabs. District 2 seat that is currently held by Mike Mayou and District 4 seat that is currently held by Tara Swenson, who also announce plans for reelection.

Earlier this week, Jordon Johnson announced his candidacy for the Duluth City Councilor At-Large seat. He spoke about his background in leadership, highlighting his years as co-executive director of a local nonprofit. More details about Johnson’s campaign are expected in the coming weeks.
