Chisholm Man Dies In Motorcycle Accident

CHERRY TOWNSHIP, Min. – A Chisholm man was killed Saturday afternoon after authorities said he lost control of his motorcycle in Cherry Township.

The accident was reported around 4:30 p.m. on Highway 5 near the intersection of Herman Road, which is about five miles east of Hibbing.

Witnesses told the St. Louis County Sheriff’s Office that the 46-year-old man failed to navigate a turn before entering a steep water-filled ditch.

Good Samaritans attempted to provide life-saving efforts to the driver, but he was pronounced dead on scene, according to officials.

No other vehicles were involved.

Investigators said the driver was not wearing a helmet, and they believe speed and alcohol contributed to the fatal crash.
