Diane Desotelle announces plans to run for City Council
DULUTH, Minn. — With Mike Mayou stepping down as Duluth’s District 2 Representative, former city employee Diane Desotelle is looking to step-up.
She announced today that she is running for the district 2 seat on Duluth’s city council.
As a former civil engineer and natural resource planner, Desotelle feels she has the knowledge and experience to do right by her community.
Her main focus is on our environment, affordable housing, ageing infrastructure, and our economy.
“I think in the past, we haven’t had a city councilor that really has a strong background in the environmental aspect of it. And when you have 25% of the lands in the city of Duluth that are open space. It’s really important we protect preserves and take care of them, because not only do the city of Duluthian’s use them, it’s important for our economy, and we bring a lot of people in, and you want to make sure that they’re coming in and enjoying those spaces.” said Diane Desotelle. “I’ve considered running in the past, but this is really the right time and the right opportunity for me, having lived in the district for so many years, seeing a counselor step down, and feeling like I have the knowledge and more wisdom to be able to do this.”
Desotelle has also been a small business owner, a teacher, a union member, and a volunteer advocate for affordable housing.
At the time of publication, she is running unopposed.
