Superior National Forest Begins Prescribed Fires

NORTHERN MINNESOTA — The Superior National Forest is starting prescribed fires to help reduce overgrown vegetation.

The prescribed fires may be close to areas open to the public for the next several days. Warning signs will be posted along roads near all prescribed fire areas before operations begin.

The Forest Service is warning that nearby residences may experience heavy smoke.

If you’re on the road and start to see smoke on the road, the Forest Service recommends slowing down and turning on your headlights.
