Rhubarb Fest Changes Locations for this Year’s Event

DULUTH, Minn. — The upcoming 20th Annual Rhubarb festival will be celebrating in a new location this year.

Since the beginning of the rhubarb festival tradition, activities took place on the east end of Duluth.

This year, the festival will take place at the Asbury United Methodist Church, a few blocks away from the Lake Superior Zoo.

By bringing it to the west end, it allows officials to pair up with local businesses and partners. Not only will it be easier for those neighborhoods to get involved, but proceeds from the event will be helping them out as well.

“We were not able to go back to the same place where we’ve been for the last couple of years due to some program expansion there,” said Tim Wilson, director of Mission Enhancement at CHUM. “So it kind of presented an opportunity to take a look around around the city, and we quickly decided that we would focus on the west end. It turned out that Asbury United Methodist Church was a great location.”

Officials are also organizing are working with the city to provide transportation and safe crossings for the event.

The Rhubarb festival will be happening on June 28th from 10 AM to 3 PM.
