Annual Superior Middle School Career Fair Showcases Community Impact
SUPERIOR, Wis.– Today 8th graders at Superior Middle School got the opportunity to learn about potential career paths.
A dozen different career representatives met with the students to discuss their impact on the community.
There were tables ranging from healthcare, to firefighting, as well as the Douglas County Humane Society.
Some of those tables had demonstrations such as a flight simulator and CPR dummies to showcase what they could be involved with.
Getting the 8th graders familiar with different options as they transition to high school is a game changer for the staff.
“Some of those kiddos know like, here, I’m going to high school, I’m going to college, and then here’s my plan for my job. But some of those kiddos, they don’t really have that support or stability at home. So, this is a chance for them to explore what is there, what do we have in the community, and what would I need to do in order to get there,” said Amanda Lindquist, Instructional Coach for Superior Middle School.
For one of the 8th graders, he is thinking about following his father’s footsteps when it comes to his career path.
That being said, he’s still keeping an open mind during this fair.
“It’s cool because you get like face to face and you get to learn different experiences and stuff they do instead of just reading about it. You can actually physically see it and stuff, and I think that’s pretty cool,” explained Everett Kliegle, an 8th grader at Superior Middle School.
Throughout the day, the career representatives got to chat with an impressive 75 middle school students.
