KYN: Twin Ports Artist Takes Over ‘Duluth Studio Market’
DULUTH, Minn.– Chances are, you’ve probably seen artist Amber Nichols at Lake Superior Art Glass in Canal Park.
But now, tables are turning in her favor. And she is now able to grow her passions even more.
“Being in that environment, surrounded by beautiful art and artists and creative people really drove me to want to my own place, and showcase my art and other artists,” said Nichols.
And now that she has her own space, she’s not limited to just art made from glass blowing.
She’s excited to showcase and sell all kinds of art right off of North 45th Avenue East in Lakeside.
“Duluth, I think is very unique because we have so many types of artists. We have painters, we have photographers, ceramics. I mean, you name it they’re here. And this local hub is so important to Duluth because not only does it draw other people in, but it helps support the local community,” explained Nichols.
By opening this space, she’s eager to help artists who are experienced, or just looking for a place to start.
In addition, ‘Duluth Studio Market’ will host classes for people looking to learn more about getting involved with art.
“There’s been many times through my photography career where I tried to break into that market and find the gift store, or do I open my own store for my own stuff. And it’s very difficult,” said Nichols.
Everything is still fresh and new, Amber didn’t officially take over the business until last Friday.
And by the sounds of it, ‘Duluth Studio Market’ is in good hands.
“Stacy and I met, and it was like instantly we knew it was the perfect match. Like her vision was what I was thinking, and she had already curated and built this business to what it was, and it’s amazing. And I knew I could come in and just continue that. And then expand it even more,” beamed Nichols.
‘Duluth Studio Market’ will have an official grand re-opening on Saturday April 26th from 5 PM to 7 PM.
Where they will celebrate new beginnings, as well as the bigger picture painted for this creative space.
