Search Continues for Missing Duluth Woman
DULUTH, Minn. – Authorities continue searching the waters near Rice’s Point for a missing Duluth woman.
St. Louis County Sheriffs were back on the waters near Rice’s Point Monday afternoon, in the search for 61-year-old Sherri Monroe.
Rice’s Point is a public boat launch and fishing area on Port Terminal Dr, that sits under the Blatnik Bridge. Authorities say Monroe’s phone was last ‘pinged’ near that area around 2:00 a.m. on Sunday.
FOX 21 spoke with St. Louis County Rescue Squad Captain Rick Slatten, who described the ongoing search efforts, “we’re conducting search operations here with, ground teams, drones, side scan sonar, canines, and our ROV mini submarines. We’re classifying her as a vulnerable adult. And, we’re concerned for her welfare.”
Capt. Slatten encouraged anyone with information that may help locate Monroe to call 911.
