Spaghetti Dinner Fundraiser Raises Money Veteran ‘Honor Flight’

DULUTH, Minn. – An annual fundraiser looks to help support ‘Honor Flights’ for local veterans.

The All American Club in Lincoln Park is hosting its annual spaghetti dinner this Saturday, Apr. 26, to support the Honor Flight Northland organization.

‘Honor Flights’ are organized trips for local veterans from World War II, the Korean and Vietnam wars, to visit “their memorials” in Washington D.C. The Honor Flight program includes independent chapters, like Honor Flight Northland, all across the country.

According to Sharen Larson, the Chair of the All American Club, they began the spaghetti dinner in support of the local Honor Flights around 10 years ago. When asked why the club continues to support the flights Larson said, “it gives me such satisfaction just to see…the closure they got, you know, it’s it’s heartfelt. It’s really- really is a lot of tears, a lot of crying going on.”

Larson said the experience of visiting the memorials for veterans is a truly special moment. “They’re so happy they did it. They don’t regret any moment that they were there. And every one of them have said it’s the best day of their life.”

The All American Club will host the spaghetti dinner and silent auction from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. Tickets are $10 and can be purchased in-person beforehand or at the door.
