Fire Rips Through Spirit Mountain Storage Facility

DULUTH, Minn. — The Duluth Fire Marshal is investigating after fire took over a storage barn at Spirit Mountain.

The fire was reported around 9:30 p.m. Saturday on the 8500 block of Knowlton Boulevard.

A passerby called 911.

The barn was used for storing equipment.

Spirit Mountain Exec. Dir. Ann Glumac released the following statement to FOX 21 on Sunday:

“Spirit Mountain is extremely grateful for the quick response, professionalism and expertise of the Duluth Fire Department in responding to and extinguishing a fire at our cold storage building, which housed some of our equipment.  We are extremely grateful no one was injured and that the fire did not spread.

Spirit will be working with our insurance company to quantify the loss and begin working on our claim.

While this incident is very unfortunate, it will not affect our ability to offer guests excellent summer and winter outdoor recreation.”
