66th Annual Duluth Lions Club Pancake Day Feeds Thousands
DULUTH, Minn.– For nearly 70 years, the Duluth Lions Club has been dishing up pancakes for this special day from sunrise to sundown.
And to accomplish it all, there is quite the crowd of volunteers.
“As much hard work as it is putting on the event, there’s a lot of… the adrenaline starts to go. I was here at 4 this morning, and you’re already anticipating the rush and making sure things are prepared,” said Jim Danney, treasurer and member of the Duluth Lions Club.
Because of the hours of flipping, pouring and banter behind the scenes, hungry guests are able to sit down and enjoy.
For the ones attending, many of them make it a work outing tradition.
“I’m here with my coworkers Brent, Matt and Michael. So, we all came down, and we look forward to it every year. I think we’ve probably been down here 2 or 3 years now. So yeah, super fun to make it down,” said Justin Boch, a cyber security analyst at Allete.
Outside of serving the pancakes, the Lions Club takes pride in helping serve the community. The proceeds mainly focus on diabetes, vision, hearing, hunger, and childhood cancer.
In 2024, they raised $50,000 to help out these projects.
