SUPERIOR, Wis. — A teenager from Superior who is accused of shooting at Douglas County deputies Tuesday was charged as an adult Wednesday for five felonies, including first-degree attempted intentional homicide.

According to the criminal complaint, Carsen Peterson, 13, was so out of control and angry that his grandmother was forced to call 911.

The incident began around 4:30 p.m. at a home in the 5000 block of State Road 35 in the Town of Superior.

Peterson’s grandmother told deputies her grandson became angry when she said she would not buy him a video game because he did not do his chores.  That’s when Peterson is also accused of pulling a knife and threatening to harm the grandmother, according to the complaint.

When deputies arrived and made contact with Peterson, the teen is accused of going back in the house and coming out with a long gun before a shot rang out.

Deputies then took cover and set up a perimeter around the house.

Sheriff Matt Izzard said the teen emerged from the house at least three time and fired a weapon at deputies.

At one point, according to the charges, Peterson said he was going to kill a cop and then kill himself.

One deputy reported a shot going over his head.

Eventually, Peterson left the house without a gun before entering a garage and then emerging with a tactical vest on, which is when he was taken into custody, according to Izzard.

Nobody was injured.

The Douglas County Jail said a mug shot of the Peterson was not available, as of Wednesday.

Sheriff Izzard released the following statement to FOX 21 on Wednesday:

“I have reached out to deputies who were on scene and they are all doing well. Although it was a very intense situation, their training and tactics kicked in. Their professionalism and decision making lead to the peaceful resolution. A truly remarkable result given the danger they faced.”
