42 People Displaced After Fire in Moose Lake
MOOSE LAKE, Minn. – 42-people were displaced early in the morning of May 9, 2025 after an apartment fire.
Moose Lake Fire District firefighters says they responded to Hillside Manor West and discovered a smoke filled building.
An apartment on third floor had a small kitchen fire but the sprinklers system had extinguished it.
There were no injuries.
There was moderate fire damage to the apartment and water damage to several others on multiple floors.
The Moose Lake Power company said due to possible damage to the electrical system, residents would not be allowed to reenter their apartments until an inspection was done.
The power was cut to complex.
The Red Cross was able to place all of the displaced people.
In a news release Executive Director of the American Red Cross serving Northern and Central Minnesota Dan Williams said, “Whether it’s the ice storms that hit the Moose Lake area so hard in 2022, or this fire impacting so many, it’s the relationships and preparedness work that’s been done by fire departments, cities and counties that makes such a difference in how residents are cared for… I’m thankful not only for our Red Cross volunteers and staff who responded overnight, but also for local government and the business community members who are making outcomes more positive for those impacted by this disaster”
