Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive Returns After Five Year Hiatus

DULUTH, Minn. — After a five year hiatus, the nations largest one-day food drive is returning to the Northland.

The National Association of Letter Carriers is bringing back their Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive, it was put on pause for a few years. but organizers say there is now a great need to support food drives.

People are asked to leave bags with non-perishable and unopened food by your mailboxes by 9 a.m. Saturday, May 10.

Throughout the day letter carriers and volunteers will collect the donations and drop them off at local food banks.

“Non-perishable food but what’s also very popular and actually a need is peanut butter, cereal for the children. There’s a variety of things and yes canned foods helps. What really also doesn’t help is food that is past the expirations, that doesn’t help and makes more work for people,” George Rennan, Stamp Out Hunger Coordinator said.

If you miss Saturdays drive, you can also drop donations off at your local post office or mail them to a local letter carrier branch at NALA Branch 114 P.O. Box 16583 Duluth MN 55816.
