Activities Dir.: ‘Sexual Toy’ Is Center Of Hazing Investigation Involving Superior H.S. Boys Lacrosse Team

SUPERIOR, Wis. – A hazing investigation is underway by the Superior Police Department involving the Superior High School boys lacrosse team.

In an email to the families of the team, Activities Director Ella Olson said she and the dean of students interviewed “many boys regarding the ‘sexual toy’ that was brought into the BLAX hotel and made its way into several team rooms.”

Olson told parents she would address the whole team 3:30 p.m. Monday to provide an opportunity to talk make sure students knew they could report what they may have experience via email or through the district’s anonymous app.

“My goal today was to make sure that our students were safe from any harm – physically, mentally or emotionally,” Olson said in her email to team families. “At this point, I don’t have a clear answer to that question. I need your help. Please speak to your child about this event. If you feel concerned about their response, please report to us.”

The lacrosse team did not practice Monday, and team activities will remain suspended until all questions are answered because, according to Olson on Monday, “I do not feel as though we have gotten enough honest information from our players.”

As for when this incident allegedly happened, FOX 21 learned the Wisconsin Dells Police Department was notified by the Superior Police Department about an “incident involving juveniles,” according to Wisconsin Dells Police Chief Nick Brinker.

The Superior boys lacrosse team had a tournament at the Dells two weekends ago May 3.   Neither agency would directly confirm Monday whether the alleged hazing incident did happen during that away game.

“The School District of Superior is committed to fostering a safe and respectful environment for all students. Hazing has no place in our school community, and we will not tolerate any behavior that puts our students at risk,” according to Dist. Supt. Amy Starzecki.
