DULUTH, Minn. – The Jenkins Fire, which is burning near Cadotte Lake, Bassett Lake and Town Line Road has burned 6800 acres as of Tuesday (5/13/2025) afternoon.

That acreage is the same as previous reports.

But the fire has 0% containment.

22 people are fighting the fire using 1 engine, 3 tracked vehicles, plus air support.

The fire was first detected around 11:00 a.m on Monday, May 12, 2025.

Critical places at risk are the community of Skibo, the Skibo Mill, and a Canadian National Railroad line.

Fire is burning in timber with a mixed boreal forest and grass components and in a landscape heavily impacted by the spruce budworm.

The cause of the fire has not been determined yet and is under investigation.

An Eastern Area Complex Incident Command Team is in transit and will assume command of this fire on Wednesday, May 14.
