GoFundMe Started for Dog Who Died in Wildfire Evacuation

BRIMSON, Minn. –A GoFundMe has been started for a dog sled musher who lost one of her sled dogs due to the evacuation of the Camp House Fire in Brimson.

The young dog named Freddy passed away early Monday morning.

Freddy’s owner Soph Mintz says the rest of her 25 dogs have been relocated to a kennel in Grand Marais, and her four cats are safe with her parents in the cities.

The GoFundMe started for Mintz quickly surpassed its orginal goal. The money raised will help costs of the emergency vet care Freddy received.

Mintz is waiting to here about the state of her property and when she can get home to rebuild.
