DULUTH, Minn. – As of Thursday morning (5/1/2025), the burning area of the Brimson Complex wildfire (Camp House/Jenkins combined) has changed due to drone mapping.
The Camp House fire’s burning estimate is 14,979 acres and the Jenkins Creek fire estimate is 15,571 acres.
The acreage report was updated as a result of more accurate readings by infrared drones.
The teams battling the Camp House fire saved a communications tower Wednesday by using water dropped from aircraft.
Crews are also assessing the viability of setting up structure protection near Fairbanks.
For the Jenkins Fire, protection of the Skibo community is a priority operational objective.
“Hot shot” crews have now been inserted into the Jenkins Fire.
