Munger Shaw Wildfire Begins To Slow Down
COTTON, Minn. — The Munger Shaw wildfire, which has burned 1,600 acres, slowed down on Thursday.
Lower humidity, reduced winds, and higher humidity have helped with slowing fire growth. according to officials.
Firefighters are now able to focus their time on building and strengthening dozer lines and securing the fire perimeter.
Severe thunderstorms and gusty winds are expected Thursday evening, which could bring challenges to fire operations.
The St. Louis County Sheriff’s Office and Emergency Management are coordinating public safety efforts, including evacuations and road closures.
The National Weather Service has lifted the Red Flag Warning, but outdoor burning is still discouraged. See current burning restrictions here.

The public is asked to avoid the areas around the fire for their safety and the safety of fire personnel.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
