Munger Shaw Wildfire Shuts Down Roads, Prompts Evacuations into Thursday

CANYON, Minn. – Thursday’s weather forecast prompts evacuation requests for some residents near the Munger Shaw wildfire, sheriffs say.

The Munger Shaw wildfire, burning roughly 45 minutes north of Duluth, showed only “minimal growth” on Wednesday, according to the St. Louis County Sheriff’s Office. Traffic continued to be limited or blocked throughout the day on Munger Shaw, Three Lakes, and several other surrounding roads. The fire is estimated to be around 1600 acres in size.

Residents living along Munger Shaw Road have been requested to evacuate “due to concerns of the changing weather anticipated for tomorrow (Thursday),” the sheriff’s office said.
