DULUTH, Minn. – City Councilor Azrin Awal posted on social media, “Today, I announce that I will not be running for re-election this year. My heart is grateful for all the good we accomplished together, all the voices we uplifted, and all the future possibilities in the world.”

Awal was first elected to the Duluth City Council four years ago.

Her post made on May 16, 2025 include her stating, “I’m not done yet. For the rest of the year, I am continuing to respond to what people across Duluth are asking for and will continue to elevate community voices… While I am not running this year, I hope to return to public service in the future.”

The filing date to run for the office is May 20, 2025 to June 3, 2025.
