Jury Found Michigan Man Guilty in Chantel Moose Murder

DULUTH, Minn. — A jury has found a Michigan man guilty of killing a Duluth woman after bar close in downtown Duluth last year. And Tuesday night the victim’s family has released a video statement remembering their loved one.

But first, Tuesday’s guilty verdict. 35-year-old Darrius Plummer of Canton Michigan is convicted of second-degree murder in the death of 25-year-old Chantel Moose.

Moose was stabbed in the neck outside Spurs bar on 1st Street. Plummer and Moose were known to each other.

According to court documents, Plummer then fled the scene after Moose collapsed on the sidewalk. He was eventually arrested in Michigan.

The Moose family has requested privacy and space as they remember her life, but they released a prepared video statement through the Minnesota Department of Public Safety.

“Losing one is just really hard on the family. And with Shantel, it’s just like — it was heartbreaking,” said Tammie DeFoe, the aunt of Chantel Moose. “It is still a struggle. It’s like. I just can’t believe that, you know, she. I we lost Chantel.”

Plummer’s sentencing date has not yet been set. He faces up to 40 years in prison.
