One fire close to containment; More evacuations lifting

DULUTH, Minn. & BRIMSON, Minn. – The Camp House Fire is quickly getting close to full containment.

Containment Lines for Brimson Complex Fires (5/22/25)

As of Thursday Morning (5/22/2025) the fire was reported to at 90% containment.

The fire has burned 12,071 acres between Brimson and Bassett.

There are still 363 people fighting the blaze.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation, it started on private land on 5/11 and moved onto the Superior National Forest.

The Eastern Area Incident Management Team reports that on Wednesday (5/21), “firefighting crews and equipment working around the Camp House Fire made excellent progress on the entire perimeter of the fire’s footprint. Firefighters walking within the wildfire’s burned interior, near the line, continued to search for and put out smoldering stumps and roots.”

The areas without containment are just a few spots on the east and west sides of the fire.

The Jenkins Creek Fire fire is now 32% contained.

It has burned 16,748 acres an has 226 people fighting it.

Drones are being used to held those teams target hot spot.

The Eastern Area Incident Management Team says, “The engines and crews dedicated to structure protection are expected to complete that work today.”

The containment lines are on the southern half of the eastern edge of the fire and parts of the northern edge of the fire.

The Lake County Sherriff’s Office announced that all evacuations in their county have been lifted.

In St. Louis County conditions has improved enough that 13 evacuation zones that had been on “Go” were changed to “Set” status Tuesday night.

Skibo Road and Forest Road 113 will remain closed eastbound from CR-110/FH-11.

Bundle Lake Road is closed northbound from Hwy16/Town Line Rd.
