ALEIA Project to Host 3rd Annual Northland 5k for Food Allergy
DULUTH, Minn. — The ALEIA Project will be hosting the 3rd annual Northland 5k for Food Allergy Saturday, May 24, along the Duluth Lakewalk.
ALEIA Project is a non-profit organization started by three moms who have kids with food allergies.
The 5k is the organizations one big fundraiser for the year, it funds their work in the community all year long.
Some of that work includes implementing food allergy resources kits into classrooms, those kits can be very beneficial for teachers.
“If a child comes into their classroom with a food allergy, they have a kit right there they can look for, resources, they’ve got posters, they’ve got letters to send to families, different ideas for non-food activities and treats in the classroom. They’ve got everything right there so it’s just one less thing for them to worry about,” Emily Homan, ALEIA Project President and Co-founder said.
The 5k will start at 8 a.m. Saturday morning at the Endion Station in Canal Park. There will also be a free kids fun run following the 5k.
