Friday Evening Northland Forecast: 5/23/2025

A Chilly Friday Night

We have already had some warm weather in May. But this weekend will not feel like it. We have a Frost Advisory for the entire viewing area tonight; Minnesota, Wisconsin, and the U.P. of Michigan. We will see lows down toward 30 degrees in some low spots, and some upper 20s aren’t out of the question, either. Even tomorrow night looks chilly, with lows again in the low to mid 30s. Our normal high for today is 66, and we were 10 degrees below that. The high pressure dome is keeping us high and dry, and cool. But, the lower winds are nice. Those winds were just awful earlier this week, with peak gusts of 60mph on Monday. This calmer weather is much preferred.

One thing we can use more of is rain. Both for our yards and gardens, and also for helping with the numerous wildfires in the area. Unfortunately, that’s not really in the cards right now, with this massive area of high pressure over us. All the available rain is being pushed south, into Iowa, South Dakota, and Illinois. Our next chance for rain is on Wednesday, but it’s only about a 20-30% chance. So…you’re saying there’s a chance!!??

Temps will gradually warm up towards normal over the next few days. Highs will be in the low 60s this weekend, with the mid 60s by Wednesday. We should hit our first 70 degree day in quite a while by Thursday, with sunny skies, and a high about 70. Even 72 is possible by Friday.

So, enjoy a fabulous Memorial Day weekend, with sunshine and temps in the 60s. And, tell a veteran ‘Thank You,’ if you see one around town. They deserve our gratitude.
