Two local businesses and the City of Duluth work to restore forest

DULUTH, Minn. — Two local businesses and the City of Duluth teamed up to plant trees near Lester Creek today.

Over 1,000 native white and red pine saplings were planted by volunteers in an effort to restore forested areas.

This will decrease erosion and carbon emission all while increasing biodiversity in the local area making it enjoyable for all.

We spoke with one of the group leads with Loll Designs.

“We as a group, we shut down our shop for about half the day today, took that time and came and planted about 1250 trees,” said Kyle Blood, a group lead for Loll Designs. “When you start looking at the forest around Duluth, we’re definitely in an aging out forest. So as you start putting these older growth trees, like red pine, white pine, we’ll just be able to reforest keep these areas beautiful for people that are using them.”

The commitment to forest restoration does not stop here as these local businesses will continue this annual tradition.
