Duluth Huskies Ready to Get 2025 Season Underway on Memorial Day
First pitch for the Huskies road series against the Waterloo Bucks is on Monday, May 26th, at 2:35 p.m.
DULUTH, Minn.- The Duluth Huskies are ready to open up the 2025 season on Memorial Day as the Huskies hit the road to take on the Waterloo Bucks.
The Huskies finished the 2024 season with a 38-31 record
The Duluth Huskies punched their ticket to the Northwoods League playoffs with a 38-31 recorded, where they fell in the first round to the La Crosse Loggers.
With a new season underway for the Huskies, the roster contains a mix of new faces and returners from last season.
One player returning for a second season with the Huskies is pitcher Gilbert Saunders.
The new Huskies squad is ready to compete at a high level in the Northwoods League.
“I try to recruit a competitive roster every year. But we got some big boys, with some sizes, we got some speed. I try to have speed here. As you see we’ve hit some home runs lately, so we have some bigger guys, and then again just pitching, guys that are competitive, fill up the strike zone and give us a chance to win,” said head coach Marcus Pointer. “I like to have guys that want to play in the Northwoods rather than getting placed in the Northwoods. Cause then there are the guys that enjoy it and want to be out here.”
Two local standouts will suit up for the Huskies this season.
Duluth East’s Bjorn Lind and Proctor’s Nick Terhaar will play for the Huskies this summer.
The pair is excited to have an opportunity to play in front of their hometown.
“For me it’s kind of like a little kid’s dream come true. I’ve been watching them since I was very young, so it’s kind of cool to be on the other end of it this year. Not being a little kid watching wondering if I’ll ever be here. I’m actually the kid playing out here so it’s pretty cool.” said Terhaar.
“Coming to games since I was a little kid. So, finally being out here practicing with the guys is a great experience,” said Lind.
First pitch for the Huskies road series against the Waterloo Bucks is on Monday, May 26th, at 2:35 p.m.
The Huskies first home game is on Saturday, May 31st against the Eau Claire Express.
