102nd Annual Memorial Day Observance Held in Proctor
PROCTOR, Minn. — Over in Proctor, the 102nd American Legion Memorial Day Observance honored and recognized those who made the ultimate sacrifice for their country.
Family, friends and members of the public gathered at the Community Center to remember and honor our nations heroes.
The Proctor American Legion Honor Guard read off the names of local vets who lost their lives.
Proctor native Master Sergeant Whitney Olson from the 148th Fighter Wing was the keynote speaker for the program. Olson honored those who came before her during her speech.
“I have not faced the battles that many of out veterans did, I have not endured the same hardships nor made the same sacrifices. But it is because of their courage, their strength and their unwavering dedication that I get to wear this uniform today,” Olson said.
After the ceremony, the Honor Guard visited six local cemeteries to pay their respects to fallen military members.
