Duluth Donates Blood in a ‘Giant’ Way

DULUTH, Minn. –   Local firm encourages community members to donate blood

The firm known as Giant teamed up with the Memorial Blood Center to host its “Giant Giving” blood drive. Locals were invited to stop in and donate blood aboard the mobile donation bus, which was parked out front.

“Every one pint donated can save up to three lives. And typically that’s going to cancer patients. It’s going to car accidents, it’s going to new moms, new babies, all sorts of things you never really know when someone’s going to need blood or who’s going to need it,” said Jena Mertz, co-owner at Giant.

There are multiple Memorial Blood Centers in the Northland area, and two of them are located right here in the Twin Ports. With locations in both Duluth and Superior, it’s convenient for locals to swing by and donate blood to a life-saving cause.
