127th St Louis County Habitat for Humanity Home Nears Completion

HIBBING, Minn.– One Hibbing community member says, the process of helping put together her new habitat for humanity home has been a “heartwarming and humbling” experience.

Since 2006, the North St Louis County Habitat for Humanity has been helping people become homeowners.

Officials are calling today a day of celebration, as members of the community gathered to see the home nearly completed.

And from the sounds of it, the Habitat for Humanity experience is a serious win-win for everyone involved.

“Habitats mission is to display God’s love by bringing people together. And this is a great example of that. It brought in the Hibbing high school students, The Minnesota North’s College electrical students, and their class has worked in here. The city of Hibbing and the county helped provide the land for the project,” said Nathan Thompson, Northern St Louis County Habitat for Humanity Executive Director.

And for the soon to be owner of the house, there’s a lot going through her head right now.

“I’m panicking, just slightly. ‘Cuz it’s a big step, a big purchase. But I’m definitely waiting, and I can’t wait to get my hands on the deed and moved in and have all our firsts. First Christmases, first family dinners, first outings, all that good stuff,” said Candice Brown, the recipient for the latest Habitat for Humanity home. “Fill out the application. It’s easy, it’s quick, you can go online, print it off. Even though if you don’t think you qualify, you most certainly probably do. That’s one of the things I was kind of hesitant about. But yeah, fill out the application.”

Officials said, Habitat for Humanity is a gift that keeps on giving, because the owner will not only help build a future home, but the funds generated from the mortgage’s payment funds future homes as well.
