Lake Superior Maritime Visitor Center Announces Summer Programming
DULUTH, Minn. — The Lake Superior Maritime Visitor Center has announced its summer programming.
They’ll have events for Lake Superior Day in July and National Lighthouse Day in August.
The Tall Ships Fest is also returning this July.
These events and others help bring in more visitors to the museum and promote the mission of the center.
“A lot of people don’t realize, like, how important it is for these vessels to be able to navigate the waters and carry the cargos that they do, because the they really impact our everyday lives.” said Sara Summers-Luedtke, Director of the Lake Superior Maritime Visitor Center, “Something as simple as the electricity that they’re using that can come from an ore boat or the car that they’re driving thanks to an ore boat moving the cargo around the Great Lakes.”
Over the summer, the front yard of the center will be closed for upgrades and improvements.
But, the pier and visitor center will remain open and accessible.
The visitor center itself will be open Thursday through Monday, from 10am until 4:30pm.
