Moose Lake/Willow River Softball Claims Fourth Straight Section 7A Title

The Rebels will learn who their first-round opponent is this weekend.

GRAND RAPIDS, Minn.- The Moose Lake/Willow River softball team took on the Cherry Tigers in the section 7A title game for the second consecutive year.

The Rebels dominated at the plate defeating the Tigers 11 to 1 to earn their fourth straight section 7A title and punch their ticket to the 2025 state tournament.

“I am not disappointed about anything, these girls have been working really hard this season. Our seniors this is their fourth time, they have led our team all year long,” said Rebels head coach Kelly Goeb. “They just love the game, they love to be out on the field, they all get along. They just are a great, great group of girls.”

This year’s Rebels seniors have been a part of all four teams that have made the state tournament.

But this season has been different for the four seniors.

“We have a really awesome team, and it’s super fun to be a part, and just to be able to do it for our community and our team, and our coaches. Like Hallie was saying, we just feel super proud,” said Rebels infielder Sandra Ribich.
